Once a year in June, competitors from all over the region of West-Central Ohio come together to compete in the Buckland Volunteer Fire Department Belt Sander Drag Races. These competitors line their belt sanders up on a plywood track, and as the tension rises they roll their cords in anticipation of the flip of the switch. The sanders tear down the track throwing sawdust as they cross the finish line and slam into a bale of straw. This event welcomes any age or any gender of racer. If you have a belt sander laying around, bring to the Jamboree and enter it in the race. In recent competitions things have heated
up with the entry of the sander by the racer you see in this photo You see in this photo the year 2003 when
I won the super stock, and my son Shane won the modified divisions. For information on future races and photo's of past races click on this link to the Buckland Volunteer Fire Department.
